Sunny California: Canadian Solar and Partners Complete 516kW PV Installation

In an effort to reduce electricity consumption throughout its growing and packing operations, Giumarra Vineyards Corporation enlisted the partnership of Canadian Solar (NASDAQ:CSIQ) and HelioPower. Yesterday, the partnership announced the completion of the installation of 2,296 Canadian Solar 225P PV modules in order to power Giumarra’s main production and cold storage facility.

Sal Giumarra, President of Giumarra Vineyards Corporation, boasted the installation as a significant milestone for its sustainability program.

"Canadian Solar and HelioPower's solar installation expertise was instrumental in our ability to further develop distributed clean energy sources to offset costs and carbon emissions," said Giumarra.

The partnership had HelioPower responsible for the design, engineering, construction and utility commissioning for the ground mounted agricultural solar installation, which was commissioned in September. According to HelioPower, Canadian Solar brought support, extensive knowledge, and incentives to deliver a financially viable project.

For Canadian Solar, this news is relatively small in comparison to its announcement two weeks ago that announced one of the largest solar PV projects in Abu Dhabi. In comparison, the 516kW project in California is only 34% the size of the 1.5MW project Canadian Solar is to supply to the Al Fahad Group.

"What convinced us to choose Canadian Solar was its proven performance and reliability, high quality and commitment to excellence. High performance under our challenging local climate parameters was at the forefront of our selection process," state Khaled Obaid Al Othman Al Ali, CEO of AL Fahad Group. "Additionally, we focus on long-term relationships with trustworthy partners. To these belong companies with experience, an extended track record and a very good customer service. With Canadian Solar all these requirements are met."

Formed in Ontario, Canada, Canadian Solar is leading the way as a success story in the field of renewable energy.
